One of the few parts of Te Ika a Maui (North Island) that I haven't been to, although I've been close. Rugged, remote, wonderful terrain.
I missed the opportunity to take a 4-day canoe trip down the Whanganui River once, because I was on a canoe trip down another river at the time...
