I searched this forum and I was unable to find a topic already posted regarding this, so I thought Id make a new post instead.

I have a 1993 CB250 and a month ago the speedometer started going really crazy. Now the needle inside had broken off, and it counts 1 tenth of a mile every time I ride 30 miles or more. I also read somewhere, that inside the unit there is a magnet, but it has shattered which explains all the black and silver powder that has spread all over the number barrels.

The cable was first to go, already bought a new one, and I just checked yesterday, that the cable is still working.

With that being said, the speedometer assembly unit itself is toast. And they are not cheap. Looking around ebay, I found one for a CB550 and one for a 750. Looking at the pics, the one specifically for the 550 might work. Is there anything I need to be concerned with before shelling out the cash and giving it a shot?
