Well the 450 went away to a new owner, and with the cash I picked up my new bike. Guy was asking 1200 for it, but apparently he needed cash bad so I got it for 600. She definitely needs work, but should be a fun bike once it's done. Only one picture for now, but once daylight hits I will get more

Yeah she fired fine, but one of the reasons I got him down so far was a fuel leak, so it was short lived. Way to loud for my tastes, but not a priority right now.

You need to change your username to Maverick.

That is one sweet bike.  Looking forward to hearing your impressions.

It shouldn't be a huge project, so should be soon. I will need some time in the saddle to get used to it though, it sits different than the 450, which kinda felt like the dirtbikes i grew up on.

I have a pretty interesting idea on how I'll do the luggage, so that will be a fun project

Wonder how hard it would be to adapt some Concours bags to it... think2

Never been so happy to see a fuel filter.

The PO had installed some weird right angle fuel filter which was brown on the inside. I'll bet he saw rust in the tank and installed that, and it never ran right afterwards.

I'll pick up a tank liner kit at cycle gear tomorrow and remove the filter, see what happens. It needs tires, brakes, and the fuel leak fixed (failed epoxy over a busted seam, ill fix that tomorrow also) and it should be running

She's a heavy one

It was quite hot today, but I was not expecting that.

 bugey

How heavy is heavy? I'm too lazy to look it up. Man, if you were tearing up the dragon on a 450, your pace on a literbike is going to kill.

580 pounds.

We will see about the pace. I was very comfortable in the 450. I did order new tires today though, I do plan in being in the mountains soon

I am both jealeous and envious.

Wouldn't it be awesome if I could convince SOQS to let me buy a Smokies cabin for our retirement?  We could head North on Memorial Day, and return to the Gulf Coast around Thanksgiving.

Shoot - I bet pigs will fly before that happens.   Sad

I am definitely lucky to live so close to some of the best roads I've ever been on. I can get up early, run the dragon, and be home for dinner  laugh

Hey having a weird issue, don't know if anyone can weigh in on this.

The bike starts and runs fine, but after 5 minutes or so it sounds like I lose one of the cylinders, and the tach starts swinging around wildly (even though the idle drops) and doesnt respond to actual engine speed.

It usually resolves itsself by killing the bike and restarting, or waiting it out, but it only happens again.

I think its definitely something electrical, it runs pretty well when its got 4 cylinders. I tried new coils (included with the bike) but no dice.

What kind of shape are the plug wires and plugs in?

Just replaced the plugs, plug wires seem fine to me, no tears in the boots or anything. The coils came with plug wires also so I've tried two sets

I take that back, cylinder number 2 seems to have a smaller gauge wire, which, not surprisingly, was the cylinder I thought wasn't firing. I pulled the wire to that cylinder while it was running and it sounded exactly the same as the issue I'm having, but tach was normal

I would go ahead and put new plug wires on...relatively cheap and will probably fix the issue.

I am making a very interesting face. I also need to work on my gut.

I see nothing wrong with that gas tank. I might take it to work like that.
