Hi Guys/Gals,

As much as I preach AGATT to my HD friends, I wear a full face helmet and a good morotcycle leather jacket, as well as gloves but I only ever wear jeans and running shoes and/or sometimes steel toe shoes but still too short.

I would like to practice what I preach but really don't like the look of chaps, and pants on top of mine sound a bit annoying.  I only get to ride once per week IF it is not raining, so when I do get out to really ride (once per month) I tend to go on bigger rides, 4-5 hours so wearing pants specific to riding won't bother me.

I am looking at something like this:
http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=5000&L2=2&L3=&L4=&item=FTL_RED005-BZ-30_G

Does anyone wear something similar and can comment on the quality/safety aspect?  Are these considered real protection?

Boots are next on the list... as well as a newer helmet (20+ years old).

As long as the jeans have ce armor in them like these ones do, I think you'll be pretty happy with them.

Put the new helmet as #1 on the list. You can skin your butt off and break your feet however your head can't handle the forces of a faceplant.

That's the kind of jeans I wear occassionally (when I'm not wearing my fieldsheer armor).  The padding isn't fantastic in the jeans but if I go sliding far they should hold up well.

I concur with the others, get a good helmet.  They've changed quite a bit in 20 yrs.
