I have no where near that kind of dough but I got a college buddy who is pretty successful. He just recently bought a Ducati Diavel. He's let me ride it a couple of times and we snapped a few pics the other day. The thing aint reached the break in point yet and can't take it past 6000 rpms but it pulls strong. The front Brembos are UNFREEKINREAL. His license plate on the back says "QUACK". I'm glad that I get to ride it from time to time and the best part is $0 payments.

The riding position is excellent but the seat does lock you into one place and can't move around on it much. Lucky the seat is pretty comfy.

I just don't get this bike. I'm almost offended that such fine engineering and production went into...that. Just my take on it, but I marvel that Ducati exists at all.
I'm very curious to know the motorcycle history of a Diavel owner. This is like the V-Rod, a bizarre offshoot from a very centered brand that is not really like anything made by anyone (while not really tapping into an unfulfilled consumer base).

As far as motorcycle history of a Diavel owner, my buddy is 40 and his previous bikes were a Yamaha FZR 600 and some kinda 1200 Harley Wide/Glide/Bob/thingie. He wanted a "power cruiser" type of bike and initially was gonna get a new Yamaha V-Max. The new V-Max is like 20 grand and the "base" Ducati Diavel is like 3 grand cheaper. Figuring in the usual extra steep Japanese bike depreciation my buddy went with the Diavel. Plus it turns too.

Not uncommon to see Monsters around here. You can tell what it is before you see it (rolling up at a stop) from the unique sound. Kind of like someone is shaking a chain around in a can. Does the Diavel sound the same?

Love it! I can't imagine what that thing is going to feel like once you pass the break in period (yet another advantage of buying a used bike  ). What is the stock exhaust like? Is it one of those designs that has a mechanism that "opens up" around a certain rpm and get insanely loud? |

The Diavel is very smooth and refined. It is clear it is screwed together well. The engine is water cooled so it doesn't really make any chain in a can type of noises. I don't know if the exhaust loudness kicks in at any certain level since I was not able to rev it past 6000 rpms due to it not being broke it yet. It does however make cool popping noises on deceleration  Being a European bike I was expecting some "Euro weirdness" like a stiff clutch pull or being slow turning. The Diavel is none of this. Dare I say it, but, it feels Japanese-ish. Very refined. |

The chain in a can type of noises is from the dry clutch. You can hear the clutch plates rattle around when it's sitting but under load that sound is replaced by the low berp of Ducati awesomeness.
I like that bike. Not for me. The I want list has many bikes before it. But I like that Ducati has something out there now for the "cruiser" market.

It was the end of the day when I was offered the ride. I was in my "business attire" and those are Doc Martin shoes. Not to get off topic but..... Are you wearing Wolverine boots in that first picture? If so, excellent choice.(Although not for motorcycle riding)
