SE215S review.

Well I jumped on that "retarded deal" and got them in the mail today. Thanks Harrison.

First impression, they look like something the hearing impaired would ware. That is a good thing. They are contoured to fit flush with the ear and look really sturdy. The cable is a monster. Not over the ear studio monster but for ear buds they hare heavy. These cords should last much longer than the ones on the Er6i's I had before. I went through two of the Er6i's. On top of that the cord is replaceable. They plug into the base of the ear buds. Then there is a stiff memory wire that runs OVER your ear. This should prevent the ear buds from getting pulled slightly out of your ear when the cord hangs up on something. Included is a pouch to put them in when not in use. A tool of some kind (haven't really looked through that yet), and some extra tips of various sizes. I'll order more once I figure out what one fits best.

How do they sound? Great. Nice deep base that it seams like you have on those nice over the ear head phones. Well not that good but compared to the last set they are. They feel nice sitting on the ear. The weight of the cord pulls up and angles the tip down into the ear canal. It's hard to explain but once you get the hang of putting them on they feel really good. Very little pressure on the ear canal and seemingly weightless for having such a heavy cord. Those of you that have problems with ear buds staying in should not have a problem with these.

I just got them today so I have not had a chance to ride with them I'll update how they perform in the field.

The tool is to remove earwax from the tunnel.

I reccommend staying with the memory foam tips if they're comfortable, they will provide the most isolation and bass response. They're spendy though, and I can't get them. I have to order straight from Shure just like everyone else.

I just upgraded my SE215 to the SE425 personally, same features as the 215 but dual drivers. They have not fully burned in but I'm not super impressed with the sound quality so far. They're better, but not $200 dollars better. I'll wait until I hit the 100 hour mark in burn time before I give a final verdict though.

Side note, slightly off topic, if anyone is looking for stellar headphones for at home listening, you should try the Beyer Dynamic DT-770. One of the best, most accurate set of cans you can get this side of $500.

Sorry, back to the real discussion. I'm a headphone nerd.

I rode with them all weekend. They take some getting used to. I'm not used to ear buds sitting where these sit. Some of the weight is sitting on the outer ear. While I didn't notice too much while riding. My ears where a little tender at the end of both days. It feels good to take them out, like taking off a pair of hiking boots at the end of the day.

Noise canceling is pretty good. I think a little better than the phone ear plugs. Everything seams more muffled anyway. I'll update again after they have broken in.

Just got a set of SE215 as well, comfortable and quiet.

The bass on these is amazing.  Felt like I had a woofer in my lid.   banana
