Hey all you Nighthawk-ista!

I've been lurking for awhile on this fantastic site, and now I have a question...

I have an 84 650 N-H that I've had since 1999. It was in a fire in 2001, and I've been fixing the damage, piece by piece, since 2003. It's been "rideable" since 2005.

Without getting into too much detail, I've got some plans for a repaint and some upgrades....

My Question is this: Who makes the best braided stainless brake hose kit for this bike? I've seen some direct-fit and some roll-yer-own. I am mechanically inclined, and not afraid of some fabbing, but if there's a good set right out of the box that some of you have used, I'd like to hear about it.

Galfer makes pretty good S/S sets for the NH.  I've got both clutch lines and brake lines for my 700s and they both instantly improved the feel of the controls... don't know if they make a set for the 650 but its worth a look.

welcome to the forums! I have to second the Wingnut...Galfer is the standard by which all others are measured IMO. They will make any lines you want, just contact the customer support center and they should be able to hook you up.

According to a forum member, that guy bought used 650 lines so he could get measurements after the first lines didn't fit. This is where I'm going to buy mine from.

Oh, and I now know that painting the metal grab bars black looks awesome on a red 650.

Thanks for the replies!

I went with a set of brake & clutch hoses (which I hadn't even considered- Thanks, WingNut!) by Galfer, from Pashnit. $142.50 with free shipping.

welcome to the forum. I feel better about my "14 month and counting" refurbish now. Also a little ashamed that I have, at times, let my patience wear completely thin. You here with a 10 year refurb gives me something to remember when things do not happen immediately as I like them to! haha

Nice looking Hawk!
