I've never spent an appreciable amount of time in San Francisco, but my wife and I took a vacation there last week. I was amazed at all of the old CB bikes running around the city! There were a ton of UJM bikes, but most of them were CBs. It was the coolest thing I ever saw. Some were pristine, some were beaters, and some were cafe conversions. I even saw a Tahitian Blue '93 Nighthawk like mine.

I thought L.A. traffic and parking were a challenge, but oh boy - if I lived in San Francisco, I wouldn't even own a car - it would be all two-wheels for me!

I'm glad you enjoyed seeing all the old CBs around.  I'm one of those that falls into the pristine category.  Maybe not showroom, but pretty damn close for a 33 year old bike.  1978 CB400TII, aka Honda Hawk.  There's a handful of old CL's around too.  I love the looks of those old scramblers.  I love riding around The City and seeing all the old Hondas.  Every now and then I find myself parking next to a couple of other old bikes, 350's, 360's.  It's great!  There's also a garage in the Mission part of town that specializes in fixing vintage Hondas, so that probably helps keeping so many on the road.  My bike's not quite cool enough to take it there, so when it needs a professional mechanic I take it somewhere else, but they do keep a lot of old Hondas on the road.

Baileyman, I know the exact shop you're talking about. My wife's cousin was showing us around town, and we stopped for lunch in the Mission, and passed that shop. There were hundreds of older bikes out front. I took a quick walk past, but didn't have time to hang around.

Your bike is very cool! I saw one very much like it. Were you riding near Golden Gate park on Saturday afternoon by any chance?.....

I don't think I was out Saturday near GGP, but it just goes to show that are a handful of great looking old CBs out here.

I was inspired by your original post to see about a vintage honda bike night here in the city.  I might have to get one started...if I do, I might have allow early 80's bikes too ;)

Thanks for the comments on the bike.  I totally lucked out when I found it. ricky
