Hey fellow bikers,
I had bought a 1983 CB750 not to long ago and I'm working the kinks out of it, it doesn't seem to be charging right. I just bought a used stater off eBay and still am having problems keeping a charge. It has a battery that's just over a year old in it, i had been thinking maybe the battery or a voltage regulator. Give me some thoughts I'm curious

I have a 1983 CB750SC and I'm worried I have a charging problem too. The book says to hook up a voltage meter and rev it up to 5000rpm and it should not go over 14 volts. mine goes over 14 volts even at 3000 and as high as 14.5-14.6 at 5000. But I don't know if this 1/2 volt is indicative of a serious problem or not. I'm looking into it.

kclauer you're fine with that reading. Are you not keeping a charge? I would check your battery if your not.

kdemery91 we need more info. Did you use a multimeter to check your voltage while the bike is at 5k rpm? (bikes don't charge below 2000 something) should be around 14volts dc. If you give us that reading we can start to narrow it down.
