75* was the forecast for NE Texas today.  Wow, after 2 days of overeating, gift exchanges, and visiting relatives I was going to ride today no matter what.  My 2 partners in crime wanted to ride up to our favorite roads in OK&AR on the Talimena Drive.  The forecast for Talimena was about 70* with rain late.  Great, let's ride.  When I awoke this morn' and it was sticky and foggy I suspected it might be too foggy on Talimena.  It can be sunny and warm in the town of Mena just 15 miles down Rich Mountain but cold and foggy on Tailmena Dr.  Onward through the fog anyway.  1st pic is at the OK line.  A bit foggy and wet but we were OK.

As you enter OK on US 259 it is flat farmland.  Fog was light.  About 30 miles north though you start climbing in the Ouachita Mts. and the fog was thicker and wetter.  Like this.

We press on a bit and soon the fun fades.  The cages and 18 wheelers are hell bent on going 70 on a 2 lane US hwy in heavy fog.  We have to raise shields quite a bit just to see.  In a low area with a pullout where I feel safe that we won't become roadkill we pull over to discuss it.

It's unanimous.  Let's head south, eat lunch and see if this will clear.  After eating and getting a report that it was fogged in up north we headed back to Texas.  Thank God for sunshine. This is an old courthouse in Clarksville, TX where we stopped to get out of the raingear because those mid 70's we were waiting for were here.

Even though we didn't get to Talimena, still saw some good scenery.

We had planned a 350 mile day, but had to settle for 200.  Once back in TX it was warm but the wind was blowing hard from the south and was a struggle to keep your line.  Even though our bikes were covered in road grime, it still was a great day.  Nothin' like a day on 2 wheels with your buds.  After the NH cooled off, this dirt had to come off.  Gotta take care of that NH after she gave me such a good ride.

Nice report, of course the photos are always my favorite part..   thumb

The weather here in KC, Missouri is really strange this year.  Earlier this week we were doing good to warm up into the single digits and had snow on the ground, but I just turned on the news and its now 60 some degrees at 10:00pm and we are under a tornado watch.  yikes
