Let's see your bike...
« on: October 16, 2014, 08:34:28 PM »
Seems like there should be a running pic thread instead of 50 different "here's my bike". So, I'll start it off. This is my second Nighthawk. My first one was a 650. I loved it, but sold it to help pay for my daughters wedding. Here's my first baby.

I always wanted one of those 700S...., so one when I was going to get back in I knew what I wanted. I've only had her a few weeks, so I have only given her a good cleaning. But, I already think she's a beaut!!

Anyway...., lets see what ya got!!

@Sonnystile

All great bikes, but the more silly side of me is just screaming that there is a joke in that pic.

The Japanese and German bike both out and standing on their own.

Meanwhile the Italian bike relies on something to hold it up and goes into hiding the minute it starts approaching winter.  And of course, the american bike just never even got there ;-)

Sonny, a picture says a thousand words, and yours say true on motorhead!

Two pics, and I see bikes built and selected for a purpose.  Not all modded to try to compete with others, but everything I see is for you.  Plus the recliner in what appears to be a full on shop?  That is my idea of an open concept floor plan!

I do tip my hat to you!  yaha1

Haha!

I live in an historic neighborhood so I can't build a garage.   I did manage to score a rental 2000 sq ft garage that is at the end of my alley.   I can see the door from my kitchen sink.

I have a full size "beverage" fridge and a sofa and recliner.

When I could only have one bike, I got a Nighthawk.  I wasn't sure what I wanted out of motorcycling and the 750 could do whatever I wanted.

After three years, my Nighthawk looked like this.

My rides started taking further from home and in rougher weather.

That's why I got the BMW.  Lux Touring.

I sold all the "extras" off the hawk as I don't need it for touring anymore.

I have also picked up all the goodies to Farkle the Ducati for light, solo touring duty.

She's gonna see a couple weekends in the mountains this year.

RoadSailor:

Absolutely beautiful nighthawk cleaned and with that color scheme!  The rack and backrest are a nice touch as well.

But I will nitpick one thing I see in the pics.  Now, those do say 2013 dates, but want to see if you replaced those tires.  The qualifiers of they type before they became a sport tire I do not think have been made in many years.  All that I have seen in use are prone to hardening and cracking.  Sorry for being negative

My Nighthawk 750.

My buddies 86' 700sc. Built to the moon with 900F high dome pop ups, yoshi cams, custom transmission work, sick Jardine exhaust, Dail-A-Jet, Carbon fiber drive shaft, and a whole load of other goodies. This bike is insane, sounds like a GP bike from the 80's and looks as good as the day it came off the showroom floor.

Hey RJ,
Your observations are very astute - and not negative at all...
I will NOT be riding on those tires.  They likely date from the late eighties.
I am going to put some (inexpensive-but-very-good) Kenda 'Kruz' tires on the '83.
I plan on doing some long-distance touring on the olde '83 this summer - and I was never partial to the white lettering on the stock tires.

You'll notice that the mirrors are missing in the pics, as well.
I do have the originals ready to install...

That rear rack folds forward for 1-up riding - providing a driver backrest.
My first '83 had the same and it worked great on long trips.
