Hey Everyone,

So maybe this is normal, maybe not.   Tried to search, but nothing.

Since I've started riding I have been noticing what can only be described as a "jerkiness" when I roll on the throttle.

For example, upon approaching a turn I will brake accordingly, and be off the throttle.  Entering the turn, I will slowly and gradually give it some throttle throughout my turn until I exit, but as soon as I get on the throttle the bike will give a slight jerk forward.  Does this every time and is pretty annoying because I find it takes away from my cornering technique and is quite distracting --every time I get on the throttle.

At first I thought maybe the chain was out of adjustment, but I have adjusted the chain properly to spec and it still does this!  Could this be a throttle adjustment issue, or just normal for this little 250?  I have the Clymer manual and have adjusted the throttle cable play per manual spec.  Not sure where else to turn.  Anyone else experience this? think2

TIA

I had a similar experience with my bike.  Seemed to accelerate normally but all the sudden it would really take off (in any gear).  I pulled my carbs apart and cleaned them up good.  Maybe something was sticking and the cleaning fixed it.

You may want to try the sea foam treatment first though.

I've run Seafoam a few tanks ago to clear up a slight hesitation problem, and it seemed to work.

Do you think using Seafoam constantly will hurt anything?  I'm thinking of trying it out in one more tankful to see if it clears up; if not I will disassemble the carb and go from there.

I'd try it for a few more tanks and see if it helps at all, don't think you need to use it on every tank.  Seems to help clear out that gummy residue left behind from fuel; particularly in bikes that set idle for long periods of time.

Also try to sync your carbs. I had a similar problem with my 450. The sync cleaned it up.

The 250 had a flat spot just above idle, there is a washer mod for the needle that clears it up.
Edit: the 250 has only one carb.
