I don't have a lot of mods in mind, I was just gonna ride it a while. If I love it I'll keep it, if it doesn't suit my needs, I think I can get back what I've put into it.
Unless I learn to weld, my customization abilities are pretty limited. About all I can do is paint...
Hey, as long as there's no serious body damage, all you need is a few extra parts and some paint and you can make it whatever you want it to be. Hell, all we changed out was the bars, seat, and rear shocks... besides, that flying v-twin sounds downright raunchy and 5k+ In all seriousness though, I think you'll like it. It's an underrated little bike

I had a CX when I lived in Australia. A friend borrowed it and rode it all the way around the country (gone for months, thousands of KM, nothing more than oil and tires) and I rode it another couple years before passing it on. Fun, bulletproof bike -- I was looking for a CX650 before I found my current 700S. Love that twin rumble.
Nice bike.

Munkey did the cylinder heads burn up your knees?
Not really. The water cooling kept them much cooler than a air cooled motor would be.

You think?
I've found water cooled bikes to be absolutely murderously hot compared to air cooled ones...
It's such a relief to climb on the Bandit (or the Nighthawk) after having my shins roasted on the Concours or the VFR....

My shadow wasn't too bad but then again I didn't own it in an area where I'd get stuck in traffic so I was usually moving while riding it... Of course, the black leather jacket that I wore with it did not help keep me very cool at all

I've never noticed the heat on my VFR unless I'm at a stoplight for a significant period of time.

Well I climb from bike to bike to bike every day, when I ride the VFR or the Concours and then an hour later I ride the Bandit, it's pretty noticeable then. The Nighthawk was the best of them all for low amounts of heat on the shins.
I haven't put a tag on the CX yet, but I keep going out there an sitting on it. I think it's gonna be fun.....

That's how Sumer and I have been with her CL. It came with no title, and re-titling a bike in NC is a friggin BEAR! Hopefully we'll get it all taken care of in less than 2 months, but the NCDOT is being less than helpful.
