I live in the city, and most of my riding is around town. I do want to get out a bit and go the distance. In and around town I'm ok with just jeans - I have a good jacket, FF helmet, gloves, boots already. For the longer rides, I think i want to get some pants, but I am undecided if I should get something that I can wear over my jeans, or potentially shorts now in the summer, or am I better off with just motorcycle pants?? I bought these actually, and the though I thought I was getting larger size to fit over shorts/pants they only fit me 'naked'. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/40/29939/ITEM/AGV-Sport-Solare-Vented-Pants.aspxSo I am now not sure if I should exchange them for larger or just keep them and wear them alone?? I am thinking I would like to have something that goes over the jeans/shorts so when I go for a day trip for example and make stops, the riding pants can come off easily so as not to cook myself, but then in the colder weather it may be nice to have that extra layer. What are your thoughts given your experience?

MC superstore is usually pretty good on exchanging sizes as long as you didn't remove the tags/mess the pants up.

The First gear ones look good too. Are they designed as overpants so that sizing is already accounted for that?

they are designed as pants ( not over pants ) but there is enough room to get a pair if shorts inside. i don't think a pair of jeans would fit the way the pants taper below the knees and that would block the air flow through them

I have almost 20K miles over about 22 months on these: http://www.jafrum.com/Motorcycle-Gear/Mens-Textile-Motorcycle-Pants/LP2832BlackI was wearing them when I took the slide a couple of months ago. For the price, I think they are an excellent buy.

i ordered a pair of those pants hp and even though i ordered a size larger than i normally wear they didn't fit me. the waist was still too small and the legnth too short. fishmeister bought them from me, the pants fit him perfect. my legs are on the long side for a six footer

I would agree - the legs are a tad short. But again, for the price, worth the "wardrobe malfunction" - at least for me.

Yes they do - air does flow through them. However, they are black and in this gulf coast heat, I'm not going to sing you a song. This time of year, I just dunk my t-shirt and splash a little water on my pants legs. Under my riding jacket, the wet t-shirt does a great job for about 2 hours. With my 6-pack (er.... Keg) abs, SOQS says the wet t-shirt is "stylish" CE armor on the knees and the hips. I slid on my left hip - exactly where the armor is. Not a scratch on my legs and no soreness what so ever. Someone needs to come out with CE breathable rib armor.
