...s Canyon that is.  Wishing I had a mesh jacket right about now.  Unfortunately I didn't get many scenic photo ops but I still have some pictures to share anyway.

First stop about 50 miles in, Cambridge, ID.

Turns out I'm not very good at taking pictures of food before I start eating it, however since pictures of meals seem to be standard fare...

Our next stop:

We couldn't have picked a better time to go, shortly after they had chip sealed the road banghead.  Gravel was really only bad in the middle of the lane, but still...  Kind of a killjoy.

Managed to pick up a phototag along the way!  Brownlee Power Plant.

This is where we decided to start looping back.  We could have gone the rest of the way in, but decided against it because of the other weekend traffic.  This was in Oxbow, ID.

Finally at one of the more scenic areas there were some turn-outs.  This was over Richland, OR.

From there we went into Baker City, OR.  For some reason I guess I didn't feel as though I needed to take any pictures of Baker other than my partially consumed meal (like I said..). Spinach chicken bacon salad.  They probably had a better name for it than I did but I don't remember.

One last rest stop 30 miles out.

Then home.  Didn't run into any major problems. I overfilled my tank a little bit at our first stop and it started leaking while I had it on the side stand (didn't know it would do that).  In my panic after finding a puddle under the bike I shut off the petcock, then forgot to turn it back on when we left.  Ran the bowls plum out of fuel and pulled over.  Once I realized what had happened, I couldn't get it started again.  Cranked and cranked and cranked until the battery started to run a little low, then started trying to push start it instead.  Eventually it came back to life (with the starter, I didn't get too far with the pushing...) and everything else went without a hitch

Very nice pics  thumb

If you ever run your float bowls empty again, pull the vacuum line that runs to the #2 intake. Then make sure your fuel switch is turned on, and then 'suck' on the vacuum line for 30 seconds or so. This will fill the float bowls back up and avoids you killing the battery as you crank the engine over and over waiting for the bowls to fill back up again.

Great trip.  I had overfilled my tank before as well.  Had the same thing happen with the fuel coming back out from under the cap.

Great RR - It's hard for me to imagine that anyone could ride with a leather jacket this time of year.

I'll remember this, although I'm sure it will never happen again... giggle

Initially I thought it was pouring out of an intake boot and I had bigger problems.  Sort of a relief to figure out what happened, followed by disappointment with the realization the whole bottom of my tank bag just got a nice impromptu bath.

Yea it wasn't a smartest purchasing decision I've ever made, but once you're moving it isn't bad.  Although we don't have the humidity you do which probably makes a big difference.  An upgrade is in the future.

It was a great day, although once we hit the chip seal I was concerned we would be stuck on it for longer than we were.  At least it will be in good shape for the next go-around banana.

+1

Done that a few times. Just don't let your friends see you do it.

Very cool... can't believe you are in leather now though.  knary Kudos to you for being ATGATT though!  mol

You think the gravel was bad there, you should come to the Deal's Gap Rally next year and go to "The Devil's Triangle" with me, Pants, and Soup...talk about pucker factor the whole way.  bugey
