I've picked up another Honda, but this time a CX650E that is currently not running. Seems to be all there so we'll see what it takes.

The story on this one is that the current owner bought the bike some 5 years ago and parked it in his garage. He rode it up and down the street a few times and it's sat since. The bike looks to be all there and the tool kit is even still in the rear storage trunk. There is also the original owner's manual too. The gas tank looks pristine inside which is so nice. It needs some love including a new battery and both tires are dried and cracked and will need to be replaced. I'm hoping that a carb cleaning, some fresh fluids and a battery will have her running shortly. I'll post my progress as I go along.

I love those CX650E's!!!  thumb
I was this close -><- to buying one that was in pristine shape, just before I bought my Nighthawk S, except the one I was looking at was the black model.
I believe these were only sold in Canada.

You keeping this one or flipping it?

p.s. the turbo model is even more rare

I'm torn between making a few bucks quickly or fixing her up and riding. I'll know more once I start the work. From what I can read on the internet, this model was available in Canada and Europe and not in the USA. The turbo was nice but this model seemed to provide all the same performance without the reliability issues that a turbo might have.

Thats one cool looking bike. The motor looks odd to me. Not an inline, but it doesn't look like a standard V either.

The motor is a V-twin but sits across the frame similar to the format that Moto Guzzi uses. Honda came out with the design some time ago with the CX500 back in '78. The motor uses a 4-valve head that is pushrod actuated, liquid cooled and has a shaft final drive.

I believe its got a 45 degree apposed v-twin. Same as the CX500. It was Honda's response to the British bikes back in the day.

I'd love to get her back to this condition.

It's got the same fairing as the CB1100F. I think it would look great on a 650 Nighthawk.

I'd say you're already pretty close to the condition of the second bike. A little bit of cleaning, new tires, and your choice of engine brightener and it would be hot.

Love the wheels.

Still haven't taken the rotten old CX500 I picked up to speed yet, rebuilding carbs now.
Of course the CX650 is a much sleeker bike, but I couldn't pass up the deal I found....
Yeah, let us know if you want to sell....

I already have the S100 engine brightener on hand so that's covered. I am also considering a set of Bridgestone BT-45 tires and likely a new battery too.

Will sell if somebody makes me an offer I can't refuse.

You'd probably be the the first if not the only person in the US to own one.

I've read of a few of these bikes being imported into the USA, but not many. Canada seems to get some unique bikes that for whatever reason the US market doesn't. One of my previous bikes, a 1986 Yamaha SRX-6 thumper was another example. It only ever made it to Canada in that one year and was never sold in the US. It was available for several years in Europe and the UK though.

If you were to get it running by August the 4th, you could meet us down at the Honda Transverse Twins Rally in Milton PA. The folks there would love to see it.

I've managed to rent a motorcycle trailer for this Thursday and should have the bike in my garage then. I doubt I will have her ready for that meet.

I picked her up tonight and had the ownership transferred into my name on the way home. I even took a picture at the MOT while she was sitting on the trailer. I gave her a quick rinse to see how much of the five years of grime I could wash off. Not too bad considering the price paid.
