Finally got around to getting the photos from my recent road trip organized. My buddy and I trailered our bikes to a friend's place in Gunnison where we began our two wheel trek. We started out on US 50W to CO 92 into the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, then to Delta, CO, US 50W to Grand Junction and West along I70/US 50 to UT 128 and took the loop through Arches NP & Moab, back up US 191 to I70W/US 50 on to Salina, UT and split off on US 50. Rode that to Ely, NV where we took US 6 through Tonopah and on to CA where we took in Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon NPs. We then made our way to San Francisco, over to CA1 up the coast to US 101, on up the CA and OR coasts and over to Portland. From there, crossed the river into WA and took WA 14 along the Columbia River, made our way to US 12E, followed that to Lewiston, ID. We stayed on US 12 through ID into MT and Lolo Pass where we headed South on US 93, East on MT 43 to Wise River, MT and followed the Wise River South to Polaris, MT and spent a day there with a friend. We left Polaris the next day and headed for Yellowstone via MT 278, MT 41, MT 287 and US 287. We had both been to Yellowstone before, so we rode on through with only a few stops, exited the South Entrance and followed US 287 to Rawlins, WY. We doglegged West on I 80 a bit and took WY 789 South into CO and followed CO 13 to Rifle, CO, headed West on I 70 to US 50E and back to Gunnison. We had a fabulous time, no problems with the bikes, just great riding.

What an amazing journey. Some fantastic photography too, that first shot with the low sun is a perfect way to get things started. Thanks for sharing.

It was all so good, it's difficult to point out any one aspect of the trip. But....if I had to.... I'd say that while Sequoia/Kings Canyon and Yosemite were at the top of the list, the ride up the Pacific Coast was the highlight. I'd never been to the West Coast except for Baja California which is quite spectacular, but the CA and OR coasts are absolutely awesome.

15 days, 3987 miles 250ish mile per day average. Plenty of time to stop and look around. I'm envious beyond words. I'd love to ride most of that country, but I'd like to include Jacksonhole, WY, Grand Tetons, UT, and Glacier National Park, MT. Regardless - what a fantastic report. My favorite picture is the one with Mt. Hood. It's so towering among everything else, you must have been able to stare at it for miles through the helmet. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah those are great but you're others pictures are so good I can see why it is hard to pick. Were headed up the coast again this year. Did it year before last. I really like the Sierras so I am a little "eh" about the coast. At least I have lots of back roads planned to go with it. Someday I'll make it out of California!

Great report, Mt. Hood was out with out a cloud on top, you guys got lucky.. Hp, it's a short view time on the road as your in the hills. Pic must have been from the View Area...
Edit : Well looking again at the picture, it's not from I-5 so it must have a good long view.....

Correction....I got my photos mixed up. The photo labeled "Near Coos Bay, OR" was actually taken in the Redwood NP south of Crescent City, CA. Sorry about that.
