For the Civic Holiday this past Monday, August 1st (Canadian Holiday), I met up with Paul, his wife Laurie and a few other friends and we went on a ride of Prince Edward County. The weather was beautiful and hot. We met up for breakfast in Napanee, ON (home of Avril Lavigne) and set out from there.
For those of you who don't know, Prince Edward County has a fairly successful
Wine Industry and apple growing industry. Along with allot of other types of agriculture. And the landscape is very
picturesque.
Setting out after breakfast we had a nice ride along some Lake Ontario shoreline around Hay Bay and ended up at the Glenora Ferry.
Here's the gang waiting for the Ferry...

Woohoo! Free boat ride!

There are actually two ferry's that run at a time. Wait times are approx 15 mins when both ferry's are in service.
After crossing the ferry, we made a quick turn and drove up to see
Lake On The Mountain
The deal is this is a lake that is located 62 meters
above the bay that we just came across on the ferry. Its not normally natural for a lake to form this high up in Limestone bedrock. If you read the hotlink above you'll see that there are many speculations as to how this lake formed. Here is the most accepted belief on a plaque in front of the lake...

And a quick look at the lake itself...

Across the road from the lake on the mountain is a look-out spot that has a beautiful view of the ferry's running below...

And now a quick 2 min video of some of the roads we experienced. At the end of the video you see us pulling into the
Black River Cheese Co, where we had some ice cream in the shade
