It looks like the bulb on my speedometer burned out and I need to replace it.  This would ordinarily be a simple enough task but I have a rifle sport fairing so I really can't see the back of the gauge cluster to figure out how to get at the wiring, screws, etc.  Even loosening the whole gauge assembly doesn't buy me a lot of wiggle room.  From feeling around and looking at the diagram on bikebandit it seems like to get to the bulb I am going to have to remove the speedo from the cover and it feels like there are 2 screws on the back of the cover holding it together.  I'm hoping someone who has replaced this bulb before might be able to chime in and let me know if this is the right path or if I am off base.  A picture of the back (headlamp) side of a gauge cluster would be awfully helpful too.

Much appreciated!

Wahrsuul's excellent post on LED replacements shows the back of the thing with the cover off. Thread also tells you the bulb size, since that might interest you.

I am almost certain that the job entails removing two back screws to pull cover off the rear, then just pull the bulb holder out and pull out the bulb.  Reassembly is reverse of disassembly.

There's a rubber ring between the two parts of the housing, take care of it.
Also, the whole thing is rubber-mounted, you'll see when you get it apart. If you don't set it back in the mounting just right, it will be cock-eyed.

Yeah you'll have to un-loosen more than you thought you would, but it's all straightforward. I remember cussing mine only a little...
