"Hang on lady, we going for a ride" - Short Round

This past Saturday ak85lp (Paul) and I went on a spirited ride with some acquaintances of mine, who ride various 1000cc sport bikes.
We drove to Calabogie Ontario, which is home to a ski hill, various resorts, a race track and some fine bike roads.

We stopped at Calabogie Motosport Park first. Saturday was an open lapping day, and for a cost of $235 you could practice on the track all day. We were hoping to get on the track for a free parade lap. But they were not offering parade laps the day we went  Sad Anyway, we got to see the track and watch a few bikes practicing on it. Not a great track for viewing, but some of the guys we were riding with have been on it and said it is a great track to ride on. Click the link above for track details.

After the track we stopped for a quick bite to eat and a re-fuel for the bikes and then on to some great bike roads.

A very quick slide show and a couple minutes of some of the roads we were on to give a taste of what it was like.

Yeah, the roads are pretty rough around here. It is most likely from the expanding and contracting that happens with the temps. That's why I keep my suspension a tad on the soft side.

Here we stopped to see where one of the riders in the group totalled his R1 last year on the very corner. Seems he was going way too fast and did not know the road.

Gammers beautiful 750 Nighthawk and a Hayabusa that I liked. Hard to keep up with these guys.

Yes, that Hayabusa was beautiful!
Great shots  thumb

p.s. forgot to mention...that guy in the second photo who is kneeling down checking his engine (behind my bike), he thought he could smell coolant. Turns out he was right. At our next stop, another rider looked down and noted he was leaking a notable amount of coolant on the ground. After inspection, he had a pin hole leak in the top of his rad. He rode it strait home with the leak, probably took him close to an hour to get home, if not longer. Anyway, he made it without overheating his engine and he later discovered that a rock had pierced his rad and part of the rock tip was still stuck in his rad.
