My seat is falling apart and my bum gets numb after a 30 minute ride. So, thinking it's time for an upgrade.
What options do I have for a 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650?

Well, Corbin is always popular. I like their SV650 seat, but according to their own website they will not change the stitch pattern for the NH 650. That kills it for me, because I find their stitch pattern horrendously ugly.

I bought a Corbin seat for my NH650 and love it.

The Corbins look sweet, but way too much for my budget. I can get a cover for less than $50 on eBay.
What's best to stuff it with? Memory foam or gel?

A good closed cell memory foam is very comfortable. I haven't put it on my bike yet, but have used it in airplane seats. The stuff is kind of expensive, so your best bet is to cut out a section of the regular foam and insert a block of memory foam in the critical area.

As is described in one of the links in one of my previous posts (above). Thanks to JohnC, memory foam and other foam products can be found here at economical prices: http://www.foamonline.com/

I just remembered - another reasonably inexpensive alternative to a Corbin, and one that gets rave reviews, is Spencer's Seat Mods.

They loaded okay for me, so try again - may be a momentary glitch on the World Wide Wait. Spencer uses the stock pan and cover, and modifies the foam shape. He also replaces some of the foam with different types and densities of foam. The end products usually look pretty close to stock, so I don't know what you'll learn from the pics. If your seat needs to be recovered, he might do that for you if you send a new cover along with the seat, but from what I've read, he's not going to get a new cover for you himself.

You keep getting the same page loading over and over? Try this one http://greatdaytoride.comOr go up to the URL bar and delete the "/Home_Page.php/" and hit enter. Skip intro and everything should work. There's something wrong with his php scripts using Firefox. Didn't try any other browser.

That's odd. I'm using Firefox, and the link I posted works, as does the link you posted. Could it be one of those Mac vs PC things??

The only addon I'm using is Adblock plus, which shouldn't keep pages from displaying. I'm running a Windows system (I don't use "PC" because to this old fart it means "Personal Computer" which to me includes Macs ) Anywho... it's just good to know that if anyone is having problems there is a way to get his pages working.
