To be *perfectly* honest, I am not a native Nighthawk fan.

My 700S was the first used bike I came across after my MSF course within my budget.

It doesn't stir me to dance naked in the rain, join a convent, or sell my soul to Honda.

But, yours *almost* does.  ;)

The fuel economy would be comparable, and the Insight could transport 4 people.

Or was the 2000 Insight a 2 passenger car?

Anyway, with the Insight, you'd be much drier during the rainy season.

The 2000 was the two seater with the rear wheel covers right? They get like 50-60 mpg and do 0-60 in 10 secs. Pretty cool little cars. Honda should have consulted that model when designing the crz.

 threadjacked

I'll stop the thread-jack after this, as the OPs bike is the star of the show, but the Insight in question is a two-seater, only gets as low as the 40's in MPG rarely (with big, more stable tires than O.E.) as a result of winter, heavy A/C use, or spirited driving, and is the *only* car to hold my interest for longer than a year.

When I drive, I routinely get near or above 60mpg; had it as high as 89mpg on stock rubber, summer, 100-mile highway commute.

I've owned it since new, and had the batteries replaced last year, about 5k miles ago.

Now, the CR-Z may *not* be the proper successor to the Insight, but it is WAY cool IMHO, and I am SURE I could wring the mileage out of it.

</threadjack>

This white 700s is VERY cool, IMO.

Well done.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I photshopped the bike before I actually decided the colors so I knew I would like that. :)

The polished engine covers arnt redone, they all were in fair shape when I bought the bike I just dipped them in vinegar overnight and gave them a nice cleaning and chrome polish :)

The valve cover was redone in black. The handle bars and brake calipers were powder coated black. The exhaust had a little rust so I got that sand blasted and ceramic coated.

The rims were cleaned, mounted with new tires and balanced.

Rear brake shoes replaced.

Throttle and choke cables were lubricated, now the move like butter.

Two spark plus were cleaned, two replaced and all spark plug cables replaced.

The handlebar plastic controls were conditioned to restore the original black look. They had faded to grey.

The brake watch glass was replaced, when i went to do the clutch i stripped the nut to open the reservoir.. lol..

Oil pump, strainer, pan and gasket were replaced.

Entire bike frame was vinegar treated and cleaned, it did not have any rust. The black coating was good too.

The front shock seals were replaced as they were leaking.

And a lot of other stuff here and there. Start to finish took 3 months.

Did this ever officially go up for sale?

It's one of two 700s' I am aware of that I would seriously consider buying....just sayin'.

And Peoria is CLOSE.

Where did you get the fairing piece that is around the headlight? I have a 1985 nighthawk and was wandering where to find one that would fit my bike.  Thanks!

Looks good streethawk.  Peoria eh, I use to live in Morton years ago.  Pretty flat part of the country, I remember riding for 8 miles before I found a "hill".   poke
