I just recently purchased a 1982 Honda Nighthawk CB450 and the needle on the speedometer fell off. I was wonder if anyone knew the years of the different parts I could use for this bike or if there is a way to open it up and reattach it?
Thanks in advance!

welcome to the forum!  Some 700s owners have replaced the speedo needle with a trimmed and painted piece of CD Jewel case.

I had a similar issue on my 450. The two small screws that hold down the speedo face came unscrewed and fell into the speedometer.

1. Remove the speedo from the guage cluster.
2. You will need to shave down the trip odometer reset knob so that it will slide through the opening in the speedo cover. I could not pull this off. It is pressed on at the factory, and it is on there! Not to mention I didn't want to damage the speedo internals with excessive force.
3. Using a small screw driver, pry up the chrome lip on the back of the speedo.
4. Slide the speedo mechanism out of the housing and reattach the needle.
5. Put the mechanism back in and carefully tap down the chrome lip to reseal the mechanism. I put a little silicone around it for good measure.

They're kind of handy. Needing to know your speed and all. Plus, some states have inspection where things like that are necessary.
