Next week Tbante and I are going to meet at the Kickstand and take a trip up the BRP. The plan is to spend three days or so, putzing up the Parkway, taking our time, stopping as we wish and maybe doing a few side roads. (Devil's Staircase, Diamondback) We might even run into Windrider for a delivery order of venison chili.

Per a previous thread, I've been trying to learn to upload pics directly from my Droid, so that I could make a real time ride report. I don't know if I'll be successful, but I will surely give it the old college try. I'll still be taking pics with my regular camera, to make a full report when I return.

Hey Bante man... you ready to ride?

I had a hard time figuring out how to use the tailbag after getting the luggage rack. Cut and painted a plastic cutting board and bolted that to the rack. Strapped the tailbag to the board. Glad it expands. Got all of the kitchen and pantry in the bag. Clothing will go in one saddle.bag and misc. stuff in the other. A dry bag contains sleeping bag and pad. Tent straps on top.

Enjoy!!!  BRP is certainly a gift to riders. I'll keep an eye on the real time reporting.  I'm not too far from Floyd (BRP mile marker 165).  If I get the chance, I'll ride over and say "hey" to both of you at Mabry Mill or Rocky Knob.

I intend to take some good pics on this trip....but I have had that intention before. I am not good at "seeing" what makes a good picture. All mine will be uploaded after I return.....no real time capability.

Don't worry about that. Those are goals 1 & 2 and in that order.

Is the BRP speed limit still 35 mph? The Top Gear guys (the English ones, not the American wannabees) gave up on it when they found out how slowly they'd have to drive.

Speed limit is 45 and is a Federal crime with serious consequences. Bikes have been confiscated. If you want to hang out, don't do the BRP. Its really not that challenging.

IIRC it's the "Skyline Drive" segment in the Shenandoah National Park that's 35 MPH.

The BRP is a great road for motorcycle touring but not a road for motorcycle racing.
