Hi folks!
First, I wanna thank you all for the spot knowledge I have found on all the minor little things I have had to change out or repair since I picked up this little beast! Case in point the PO of this one decided that a speedo cable from a V65 of around the same time period was a perfectly acceptable replacement part...BUT...since it didn't really fit...he used roughly an entire roll of black tape down at the wheel, lol. He also neglect to lube said cable and so 400 miles later...snap!
Having read the posts from all you fine people, I watched for and picked up another running '85 650 (albeit very rough) for parts (I threw $200 bucks for it, she's already paid for herself, and even still runs!), and so just happened to have another cable available
Long miserable story short...I'm short some knuckle flesh and my blood pressure ran a little high as I cussed and sweated to bad part off....but we're rolling again.
While all this was going on, a friend of mine took my tank and front fender for me and shot new fresh color on it... I didn't ask him to do the side covers or rear fender, though now I'm thinkin I should have; but I am still VERY pleased with the difference between now and when I picked her up two months ago....
