Today I took the DR650 out for a little spin. Didn't have a ton of time or any place special to go so I headed out to the old stand by, River road in the New Hope area, it's always a nice ride with curvy twisty roads. After putting about 100 miles on all black top with the 90% off road and 10% on road DOT dual sport tires, I realized they are very noisy on the road and the back tire likes to slide out a little when your in a good lean, not much tire making contact with the road when your running on the side of those knobies. I think my next tires for this bike will be more like 60% on road, 40% off.

This was the first good ride I put on since changing out the exhaust and installing a Dyna Jet kit. What a difference, she ran great and pulls the front wheel up very easy if your not careful.

Not much to report about on the ride so I'll just share a few pics.

An old barn on the side of the road.

A picture along the edge of the river.

An old stone building that was made into a public rest room that looks like it hasn't been used in a while.

Another picture on the river, further south on River road near the area that Washington Crossed.

Nice shots HH.  One of the things I learned at the Rally this summer is that Pennsylvania has some great roads and terrific scenery for bike riding.  What year is your DR?

If I could have 3 bikes, the 3rd one would be a dual sport.

My second one would be another Nighthawk.

That camping box looks heavy on the back, HH.

I haven't loaded it up yet so I'm not sure If I'll feel it when it's loaded. I do want to get a nicer trunk in the near future but it is not on the priority list at this point.

I'm with you, I have the hawk, the dual sport and once I get the s/t bike I'll be a happy camper.

The exhaust is actually a muffler off of a 2001 GSXR 1000 with an after market mid pipe. It is a popular mod on the dr 650 and works great. The original muffler is about 17lbs and the gsxr one is less than 5.

Nice pics, HH.  It is interesting to see the old stone house. I guess someone should have spent good effort to pick right stones at each joint.
