New Tach and Speed

I just put a new tach and speedometer on my 82 nighthawk. They look great but they don't work. The cables plugged in to the new one and before i put the new ones on the speedometer worked great but now neither work. Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked to make sure the cables are still good? Take the cables off the back of the gauges and put a piece of tape like a flag on the part that spins. When you start the bike, you should see the tach cable spin. Ditto for the speedo if you take a spin down the street. If the tape doesn't move, replace the cables.

Hope you didn't drop cash on a new set of gauges if it was just broken cables...
