I wanted to share this to help remind everyone to be careful out there. This morning, on my commute, I had a truck make a left turn directly in my path. It was shortly after 7am so it was still a bit dark, plus it was raining. The truck was coming towards me on a long curve while I was on a straight. It's a curve that has a large open space so visibility is not an issue there. However, he decided to make the left onto a side road, directly in my path. Fortunately, the MSF course, as well as my regular parking lot practice, paid off. I started with an emergency stop from 40 mph. It quickly became apparent that I wasn't going to stop in time so I released the brakes and had enough room to swerve around his rear bumper. Close call… The close call had me seriously considering adding some driving lights for better visibility. After I work out some electrical numbers, I definitely think it's time to go shopping. If I intend to commute year round, rain or shine, I need to get those. But, I'll save that for another thread. I just wanted to remind everyone, be careful and be aware.

Absolutely. I think it's a message to everyone that slow school practice is vital.
