Left Houston, Texas at 7 AM Central time, and rode to Las Cruces, New Mexico, arriving at about 9 PM Mountain Std. time.  790 miles in 15 hours.  Our group was a little goggle-eyed for some reason after arriving.  The plan that our ride leader (not me) had, was to get to Los Angeles in two days.  We made our goal the first day, but then went only to Phoenix, AZ the next day and then on to LA the next.  Did the Pacific Coast Highway for a couple of days.  Then back in 3 more days.  Whew!

Folks, I am new to this site, but I am planning on buying a friends Nighthawk this weekend.  Will certainly have questions.

Another newbie to this site...

Just completed a SaddleSore 1000 last weekend- 1,050 miles in under 22 hours on my 98 Nighthawk 750. I left home at 3:30am Friday the 26th and returned at 1:30 on Saturday morning. The ride took me up from sea level to over 8600 feet across the Sierra Nevadas and down California's Central Valley to the coast again.

This included stops for gas, food and bathroom breaks.....no naps.  The bike ran perfectly the whole way, with only one chain lube needed about halfway.

One thing I have on order though, are handlebar extenders to bring the bars up and closer to me. I found that the slightly forward position of the stock setup made the back of my neck and shoulders sore late into the ride. The stock seat was fine for me, and the addition of highway pegs on the case guards helped my legs stretch out from time to time.

These Nighthawks are great bikes!

730+miles yesterday. I do not agree with the stock seat. I strapped my inflatable kayak seat to it and was much better off. I could have hopped on the bike and rode another 700 today if I had too. Put over 2K on it between Wed. and Sun. Over 1K of that on very twisty roads. Smoky mountains.
