Hi,

I've been poking around the forums for a few weeks now and I've asked a few questions, but I figured I would come in and introduce myself. On a whim, I took took the Motorcycle Safety Course and promptly purchased the cheapest running bike I could find on Craigslist, a blue 1986 Honda Nighthawk CB450SC. Here's the bike when I brought 'er home:

I took it to get inspected and it turns out it needed a lot more than the previous owner said it would need. I should have known, but I was obviously overly excited to buy a bike. Long story short, I've decided that I'm not going to pay a mechanic to fix the bike, I'm going to do the work myself. My father was a mechanic who rebuild vintage cars, so I'm hoping to channel him while I make my Nighthawk roadworthy. As far as I'm concerned, the bike is nice to look at, so a project log might be visually boring, but maybe I'll start one.

I look forward to learning from the collective knowledge here on the forums. Hopefully I'll be able to give back something in return.

A google search came up with this site.  Your exhaust is not stock should be two in to two, a muffler for each cylinderhttp://jkellogg.com/auto/honda.html.

Indeed. One of the To Do items I have in the project log thread is to replace the exhaust with a stock exhaust or the aftermarket Mac. They both seem to cost the same, so I'm leaning toward Mac since it would be brand new.

Shes a beauty and they are pretty easy to work on. A manual will go along way. Welcome to the forum.
