Hi guys...Living in Bangladesh you have to dream of riding a big bike.   The Presidential Guard Regiment imported Honda 650P bikes in the mid 80s and then when they couldnt maintain them anymore auctioned them off...not before letting them rot in some dump.  To cut a long story short - I was previously riding a Honda CMX 250 LA Custom - a nice bike.  I was looking for one of the 650Ps, one with a decent engine condition, which I was hoping I could prep up and ride.  Finally found one and thanks to ebay was able to get parts to get it up and going.  A big thanks to Ravi (a friend from Delhi riding a Blackbird) who pushed me to this.  Posting pictures of the before and after.  Enjoy.

Wow, I feel guilty about complaining when I can't find an obsolete part for my bike here in the US.

Good work, and welcome onboard.

Welcome to the group - ride safe.

The instruments look different (round v/s rectangular), the rear fender also looks extended.  Do you think these were stock for the model?

These were police models and not the regular commercial models.  All the 650Ps in Bangladesh have round instruments including some of the 750s.  I was confused too at first and could not ascertain whether this was a nighthawk at all - but then after much review and picture viewing - thanks to this forum as well - I realised it was a nighthawk and was finally able to source all the parts I required.

Hi Guys...got some lettering shipped in from xtremedecals and have put them on, for your viewing pleasure.

Also sharing with you pictures of CB 750 modification done by one of our fellow enthusiasts in Dhaka.

Your friend has a far better custom than many other bikes on here!

For anyone wondering, his bike is not technically a Nighthawk, but rather a CBX650E, a bike that was mechanically identical but had some cosmetic differences. If I recall, they are:

Different gas tank
Different trim paint
Larger rear fender
Different gauges (Depending on market)
Footpegs are higher and farther back than on a Nighthawk
Different Rear exhaust hanger and mufflers

I've looked at the differences before, but I never noticed that the shifter on a CBX650 is mounted directly to the engine. On the Nighthawk the shifter is mounted to the footpeg and a linkage connects it to the engine.

Basically, it's a Nighthawk in a different skin. A very very sexy skin too. hot

I have a question for you as well. What is that small box behind the alternator? It's just in front of the sidecover in the last picture of your bike.

Oh, and the bike looks awesome. Great job rescuing it!
