I was looking around Craigslist like always when I found a guy selling off a bunch of stuff, but no prices. I was mainly interested in the boots he had listed so I called. He said the boots were already gone but he had plenty of junk left.  I went over today (10-29) and all of his "junk" in a pile in the corner of his garage. I immediately saw a Firstgear tailbag:

Me: How much for the tailbag?
Him: That thing? It doesn't match my tank bag, $25.
Me:  eek7 Really? Um, I'll take that then. Ooh, I see you have Firstgear winter gloves... What do you want for those?
Him: Oh man, those make your hands sweat, I didn't like them. You can have them for $10.
Me: puzzled Oooookay... oh look, there is another pair of Joe Rocket mesh gloves underneath them.
Him: Yeah, those were for my wife. She didn't like the hard pads all over the place. You want those too? $5. Her helmet is over there. But she broke the visor. You want that?
Me:  puzzled Well, I am actually out of money. I wasn't planning on getting but one thing while I was here.
Him: Well, you would be doing me a favor if you would take it. I'll just let you have it if you want.
Me:  bugey Yeah, sure I'll take it then.

So here is what I bought for $45:

It still has the little moisture absorbing packets in the side pockets.

The visor wasn't broke, it had just popped out on the side. Looks like they changed the visor and didn't lock the plastic piece down.

The look just like my gloves from earlier this summer only white and smaller. And a heckuva lot cheaper.

I can't find the wintergloves that I bought. Spec wise these are exactly the same but they look slightly different:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the stuff I bought. The guy just didn't seem to have any appreciation for his stuff though. None of the rain gear was hanging up or even folded. It was wadded up on a chair with insulated pants, a tarp, a huge tank bag, various other goodies. I swear if I had another $30 buck he would have given it all to me.

His bike was already put away at some storage place, so he was done for the year. He's a police officer and doesn't get much time to ride he said. And what time he does have is when the sun is already down or not up yet! I told him that I didn't want to take something that he could sell, but he really just didn't seem to care. So I got a heck of a deal on some stuff and a clear conscience!

Pardon the mess, it's laundry day. I had to clear off a spot on the floor to take a picture. My eldest was so excited about another helmet. She will wear the thing all day until I tell her to take it off. I always let her go a while though. It's a good habit to get into!

It's a mix breed. Half dog/Half baby. He's my buddy. He's part of the reason I would like a sidecar., I would love to get some bomber goggles to have on him while we go on the road!

Cute buddy you got there.  It almost looks like he already is wearing goggles!  This summer the SOQS and I spotted a bike with sidecar and a boxer with goggles sitting there.  It was quite a sight to see...

Incredible score, especially with the helmet.

With the exception of some rain pants I picked up off of motorcyclegear.com and a pair of leather gloves I had before I started riding, every piece of my riding gear has come through CL. I just troll the MC section 1-2 times daily and try to jump on any good deals I find.

This includes:
Weise riding jacket (value $300, paid $50)
Tourmaster mesh jacket (value $160, paid $40)
FirstGear riding pants (value $100, paid $30)
Shoei helmet (value $160, paid $20)
Oxford tank bag (value $60, paid $10)

Granted, none of the stuff is new and some have minor flaws. But at 80% of retail, I can live with that.

Great deals, MM - seems you paid just a few pennies on the dollar.

Amen to that! So can I.
