Yesterday, I decided to go out into the garage and start doing some organizing to get it ready for the winter. I had put my helmet up on a shelf and walked away when I heard a thud on the floor. Yup...my helmet wasn't on the shelf completely and fell off and bounced off of the concrete floor. It's not cracked but, it does have a scuff on the upper rear portion of the helmet. Some people would say that the helmet should be fine but, I say that my brain is worth more to me than the couple of hundred bucks I could save by NOT replacing it. I have become very used to my AFX FX-100. I love the integrated sun shield and cam buckle system. I have always hated fumbling around with D rings while wearing gloves. The air flow of this helmet is decent..not the best but, decent. The fit is great and I don't have an issue with wearing it all day. This is my helmet... I do plan on buying a new helmet with a brighter paint job. Not necessarily a day glow color but, maybe something that is a little more visible. I have tried a few HJC's in the distant past and didn't find them particularly comfortable but, I haven't tried any newer models so, they may have gotten better over the years. I have tried out the SparX S-07 and liked the way it felt but, like I stated before, I like the integrated sun shield and am not a fan of the D-rings. If any of you have suggestions for helmets that may have these features please, feel free to let me know.

I recently purchased a Scorpion EXO-500 that I'm very pleased with. It has the integrated visor and air pump custom fitment. It does have your dreaded D-rings though. I like how the pads come out for washing, seems to fit my melon very well!

I was looking at the Scorpions too. I can live with the D-rings if I have too. The sun shield is probably the most important thing as far as extras. I'll have to go try some on. I think some people here said that Scorpions run small? Not sure if that is the case. Thanks for the response.

I use this on my helmet. Bought at my local Honda dealer https://www.denniskirk.com/hjc/universal-quick-release-buckle.p324403.prd/324403.skuThe part on the left slips through the same loop your D rings are in and then snaps into the middle part. The part on the right you attach to your strap like it was a D ring. It will the snap like a seat belt into the middle part.

I really like my HJC IS-MAX Flip up full face - The integrated sun shield is great when you have to wear glasses all the time -

Scorpions are a lot of helmet for relatively little money. If you spend the extra $50-$100 you can get the higher end models with the flip down sun visor. Then you can play Top-Gun while you ride.

Then you can play Top-Gun while you ride. By yanking your gear off when you need it the most?

Would you mind posting a review on this thread when it comes in? I've been looking at those. Mine has a whistle at the top of the helmet that I believe the Quest would eliminate. My Shoei (X-11) is designed for a sports bike head placement: I sit more upright.

I wear a Med in HJC, the Med in Scorpion does feel a little tight....

I know this is an old post but did you find a new helmet JB? I own a SparX S-07 and a Scorpion Burst helmet. Neither have the sun-screen but I prefer the SparX for fit and comfort. The Scorpion just doesn't fit my head shape very well and hurts after an hour of riding. The S-07 feels custom made.

I just picked up a nearly new HJC Cl-15 on craigslist for 60$. I usually wouldn't buy a used helmet but this one looked perfect and fit great. There is litterally not a scratch on it.
Seems like when I first tried it on it was a bit snug but it loosened up after a short ride. Has pretty good ventilation also. I was riding it around the other day in the high 80s (gotta love FL) with the visor completely closed it kept my head cool. Very impressed except of course for the stupid D rings.
