I had just about given up, at least for a while, on looking for a Concours. Saw an ad for a '98 on Cycletrader, looked good, price good, only thing it was 325 miles away. Talked to the owner, drove the 325 miles, bought it and rode it home. It has 35K on it, Corbin seat, Cee Bailey windscreen, Givi top case, a few minor cosmetic issues which will be easily dealt with. It runs great, rides great but only got 38 mpg on the way home, about half interstate, half two lane. Here's a pic taken before the ride home, I'll post a couple more when I get it cleaned up.

Looking forward to your pics. Looks like a nice bike..........what were your first impressions as compared to the NH? Can I ask how much a 98 Connie goes for?

The Connie is heavier than the NH by over 150#, it feels slightly top heavy during slow speed maneuvers, doesn't feel as nimble as the NH, but I'm sure I will get used to it. It rides smoother than the NH and is more stable on the highway, particularly in side winds. Wind and weather protection is excellent. For long trips, I am sure that I will prefer it over the NH. Cons, it has some cosmetic blemishes, paint scratches, a few small cracks in the plastic, needs fork seals and a speedo cable. Pros, it runs great, rides great, has a pair of practically new Metzeler 880s. I got it for $1900 with 35K on the clock.

It's a different animal than the Nighthawk but a fine, well made machine nonetheless.
You'll find that the Concours Owners Group (COG) has a lot offer you as a rider first, and only secondly as a Connie rider.
Our national rally is in Arkansas this year, I hope to meet you there! (If you have any issues with your new Connie, PM me, I've been all over this machine for years now and know it pretty well.)
You got a good deal. These bikes regularly run over 100k miles without even a top end rebuild, so 35k ain't nothing. Mine turned 66,666 miles today and it's going strong...

I prescribe to two old saws..." you don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing" and "use it or lose it". I do my best to eat healthy and I visit the gym 2-3 times a week.

Took the first ride today, about 100 miles, after several days of refurb on the '98 Connie. I stripped all the plastic to repair some cracks & broken mounting tabs, touched up some paint nicks & scratches, adjusted the valves, adjusted the carbs, installed new plugs, wires & boots, installed a new speedo cable, greased everything up. The bike runs & rides just great, I think it's a keeper.
