Hi I am new to this forum and this is my first post. A few days ago a friend sold me a 1986 Honda CB700SC (Nighthawk 700s) sitting in his backyard. It has been sitting for years but the fact I bought it for $20 (rusting pile of crap to him lol) makes it unresistable to restore. This will be my first time working on a motorcycle as I am used to cars. At the moment I am tearing the motor down to the crank to clean and replace as necissary. I have taken off all pieces (cylinder walls, clutch basket, final drive cover, top and bottom crank bolts) and it appears the case is ready to split except for one thing: the alternator chain. I have checked this forum and google many times looking for this answer but I cant seem to find it so I am asking it here: How do you remove the alternator chain tensioner on a 1986 Honda CB700SC?

Once you get the cases apart, you'll be able to access the chain and tensioner.

If you are going to do this, I would get yourself a factory service manual. It makes it so much easier.
