I have a 1983 Nighthawk 750 and have to replace the rotor assembly.  The stator is working fine.  Anyone know if the other model year CB's have compatible parts, particularly the stator/rotor assembly for my bike? Anyone have any used parts for sale or have a supplier?

No. That's a starter rebuild kit for an entirely different bike.

The rotor Honda part number is 31110-426-832. Go to RonAyers.com and paste that part number into the "Where Used" field along the left side to get a list of compatible machines.

Since the rotor is  just steel and maybe  magnets, whats wrong with yours?

The moron who owned the bike before me thought it to be a great idea and use a paper clip in replace of one of the grounds on the rotor. Had to troubleshoot why my battery was continuously going dead and already replaced the rectifier and battery prior to this.  This is the same genius who put a 16 gauge wire in replace of a fuse on the starter solenoid, which in turn had melted a ground wire and solenoid harness, stripped the 18-20" bolt that holds the motor to the frame when putting on engine guards, and uses JB weld in replace of exhaust manifold nut because he stripped the stud.  Oh yeah...had to replace chain and tensioner bolt because he stripped the bolt.  He should be in jail for such crimes against bikes.  Amazingly the bike is still intact with only 27,000 miles on it.

Not very helpful with the starter rebuild kit. Starter is just fine.  Thank you Laminar.  Much appreciated but need used rotor as my budget not allow for brand new one at moment.

I see that yours is a wire wound rotor with two copper rings.  I am guessing that the DPO replaced a brush with a paper clip and destroyed the copper ring.  Ebay has several used ones from $100.00 to $220.00.  There was also a new high output kit that has a new rotor and stator for $210.00  This did not look like it came with new brushes or a brush holder.
If there is a good motor rebuild shop near you they might be able to replace the ring.   I would  think that would cost almost as much as a good used one.    But you never know you might find another bike rider that will cut you a deal.
