My 86 CB700sc has the dreaded starter clutch problem. Engaging the start button only triggers a whining sound from the starter. I wonder how hard is it to replace the current engine with a 93 Nighthawk 750?

If you're going to pull the engine anyway why not just open it up and fix it, a chain and a gasket kit has got to be cheaper than a whole spare engine, with the 750 engine you'll have to overcome the chain/shaft thing (not to mention you'd be losing a few hp and 6'th gear) and a 750 engine is usually going to cost more than another 700s engine would.

Somewhere on here I've seen an image of a 700S with a late model 750 engine and a swingarm swap. It can be done.

You are right! Anybody can point me to a link that shows how to open up the engine and fix the starter/chain problem?
