Hey, I'm new here but I'm excited to be the new owner of a 1983 Honda CB Nighthawk 550cc. Anyway, I just got it and had the carbs cleaned and bought a new battery. I had some trouble stalling out from starting from a stopping position on hills one day and consequentially killed the battery. I got it home and charged the battery and rode it a bit again. However, after a bit, but sputtered some and shut off, and took a bit for the engine to crank. So, I put some gas in it (it was a little low) and took the battery home and charged it. Now I can't even get it to turn over. When I hit the start button it just turns off. I had to leave it at school and it drizzled a little the other day, I hope that I didn't mess up any of the electronics.
Anyway, if you could give some advice I'd appreciate it.

Rain won't hurt your bike. These things were designed to work without a hiccup while riding in a downpour.
The best advice I can give you is to pay a visit to the how-to section. Laminar made a how-to on diagnosing a bike that won't start, but I don't think it was stickied.

A sticky would have been nice. Someone give the man a sticky This has got to be the number one linked to thread on this forum. It should be easier to find.

If we can get this thread to descend into anarchy and chaos, a mod will show up and possibly take notice of our complaint. Quick, start insulting each other!
