Hi all,
New old folks here again  gerg.

This is actually our second ST1300. We sold our 2003 ST1300 to make room for this one because I decided I wanted anti-lock brakes due to the precious cargo I'd be carrying. The following is a brief narrative of our trip to pick up our new '09 ST1300 ABS:

At 03:00 on a 37 degree Friday morning in late March of 2011, windy & spitting snow flurries after a cold front has passed, we plug our electric vests into Paulette's 1993 CB750 Nighthawk and proceed to ride 600 miles over the next 12 hrs. to Russelville, Arkansas to pick up our brand new 2009 ST1300ABS. We got a good deal on it; it's just that it's a day’s ride away. The ST is really her bike. (My role is simply that of lowly Chauffeur, tasked with spiriting M'lady safely across the land and into adventure.) Over the course of the next two days she rides her Nighthawk and I ride the ST home, a trip that takes us through Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana, on some of the great Ozark Mountain roads we've ridden in years past. On the way home we crossed the Mississippi River at Chester, Illinois, home of the creator of the cartoon character Popeye. This crossing also completes a “Bridge Collection” for us that’s been years in the making, in that we've now crossed the Mississippi River on motorcycles using every bridge between St. Louis, Missouri and the Gulf of Mexico.

The following June, in the span of 14 days, we rode the ST 4,700 miles on a sightseeing tour of the Rocky Mountains, Yellowstone, Beartooth Pass, The Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands.

Good Ridin'

That sounds like a goal worth persuing.  Thanks for the idea.

Welcome again.
