Hi all,
   New old folks here  gerg.

This is me (blue) and Z1BEBE (red) on out 93 Honda CB 750 Nighthawks at the Honda Hoot in Knoxville a few years ago. These are the ones we put the real miles on; hers is currently at 58,000 mi. and mine is at 60,000. They've been the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive a half-dozen times, Natchez Trace Parkway, Key West, Cape Canaveral, the Million Dollar Highway in the Rockies, Rabbit Hash, Dogpatch, across the Ozarks a few times & lots of other places. We bought these 'cause I felt the Z-1's we had been riding were getting too valuable to be putting those kind of miles on them, and when Z disk brakes get wet in the rain they basically go away. They're good bikes for us, comfortable & reliable as an anvil.

We've had this red/blue thing going on ever since, although I will humbly admit that the blue one is not only cooler looking, handles better, is faster AND quicker, gets better fuel economy and takes less room in the garage, dogs don't pee on it  giggle.

   A funny story, then I'll let you get back to real life;
A few years ago we were heading home through southern Missouri after a week of Ridin' in the Ozarks and the Boston Mts. in Arkansas. We rolled into a busy gas station, and while I was gassing up the bikes I noticed two kids jumping up & down in a van parked next to Z1BEBE's bike. I saw the mom say something to Z1BEBE but couldn't hear what she said 'cause I still had my helmet on. Shortly before we left Z1BEBE walked over to me and said the woman had told her the kids thought we were Power Rangers  ImaPoser.

Good Ridin'

Beautiful bikes. Welcome to the forum. What is up with the fork boots? Is that stock?

Were you two in attendance at the 2005 (I think) AMA Women and  Motorcycling conference in Athens, GA?
There was a set of Nighthawks there, red and blue, with matching gear....

Hi all,
  Thanks for the warm welcome!

welcome

Lookin' good!

Need some red pants, though.
If Draggin Jeans made red ones she'd have them. It pains her to have any blue showing  happy1.

Beautiful bikes. Welcome to the forum. What is up with the fork boots? Is that stock?
The fork protectors are not stock. They are manufactured by NOJ. They seem to be the same neoprene stuff as what wet suits are made of. They protect the area of the fork tubes immediately above the fork legs, keeping them swept clean and preventing stone nicks from damaging the fork tubes. Stone nicks can damage the seals, resulting in leaks. Both of our Nighthawks are still running the original fork seals without problems after 60,000 miles, plus or minus, so they must work. They used to come in colors, but I only see them in black now. There are others marketed under the ForkSkins and SealSavers names.

Yep, that was us. We had a good time at that one. I remember being acutely aware that I was a distinct minority in terms of gender. That was a bit disturbing, especially considering some of the large, scary-looking women in attendance. I'm also used to other guys checking out Z1BEBE, but I wasn't prepared for some of the other WOMEN at the rally doing so...
The mountains of N. Georgia are great Ridin'. We've been back a few times since for more.

Good Ridin'

That's pretty convincing, no doubt.  My FJR has fork seal protectors as well, but they didn't stop one seal from leaking recently.

Great looking bikes! I wish my wife would let me get her a NH, but alas she likes a cruiser.

also, love the Targa Tsunami's. Wish I could find one for my bike.

Well then we've met before, and I most certainly was not there to ogle women.
Good to see you here! I know I told you both about my own Nighthawk...I miss it...

The Rifle fairings just don't have the same sleekness of the Targa. The Targa's lines flow much better with the Nighthawk, in my opinion. Sad

They are similar. I bought the Targa fairings a month or so after we bought the bikes new in '93. I looked at the Rifle fairings at that time also, but I liked the looks of the Targa fairings better. Targa's color match was exact too. They don't make them for the NH anymore but I see them on ebay occasionally.

Hi Stitch919,
Our helmets are in clean air. Some turbulence at shoulder level but I never notice it unless I slouch enough to get my helmet into it. Essentially no wind blast on the torso. That really helps reduce fatigue during a 300 - 350 mile day when we're touring. Hands are in clean air.
