Loud ticking coming from my 84 700s motor, took it apart and the crankshaft is shot and the piston was hitting the head. My question is, how much work would it be to bolt a 650, of around the same year, in it? can it be done with minor mods?

Thanks

My standard answer for questions like this is that anything can be done with the correct amount of time, money, and skill. If you are lacking the least bit in any of these areas it's going to be very, very difficult, if it's even possible. Your best bet would be to start looking for a used 700s motor. I'm guessing this question came about because you have/are looking at a 650 engine?

they're not the same cases if that's what you're asking, it won't just sit in there and bolt up.

I assume it could be made to work, but it would be far more effort than finding a 700S engine or rebuilding the one you have.

Why don't you fix it? I've seen some cranks, and other engine internals on ebay lately.

I'd rather be riding my blue '85 (700s)
