Alrighty yall the rookie is a little confused  puzzled  I'm having issues with keeping my battery charged (new battery) on my 83 Nighthawk 750.  From what little I know about bikes, it sounds to me like I need a new stator...ok cool.  So I go looking for one.  What I come up with is two parts that claim to be the same thing but look different and have about a $40 price difference.  Can yall help me here??   scratcher  I'll post links to the two parts I'm looking at.  Any help will be very much appreciated.  Thanks!!

You sure its the stator?  If you have done all the diagnostics and know its the stator...I have a used one I'll hook you up with reasonable.  Your stator is like the top link...not anything like the bottom link.  There is a sticky on electrical diagnostics here.http://nighthawk-forums.com/index.php/topic,12544.0/topicseen.html

Usually the stator is the least likely thing to go.  Get yourself a volt/ohm meter and http://nighthawk-forums.com/index.php/topic,262.msg1585.html#msg1585

Thanks mikefootusa!  I'll do some further diagnosis armed with this info and see if I can pin point my issue.
