The weather beckoned and I decided to take the Blackhawk out for a longish ride.  Turned out to be 250 miles which would have been fine except that I didn't leave home until 11:30AM!  By the time I got back, it was way dark and my winter gear had become inadequate.  Needless to say, I was shivering for the last 40 miles or so!  Gotta get an earlier start next time ..  smiler

First picture is of the historic Rock Inn in Lake Hughes (built in 1927 or so) .. very popular with the 2-wheel crowd.  Discussed the trails with a couple of dirt bikers who had ridden over the mountains to get here.  They claimed there are 500 miles of trails in these mountains!

Looking back toward the road just travelled (Lockwood Valley).  Just a terrific ride ... very few cars.

Found a vista point that allowed a view of the Pacific ocean and the Channel Islands.  aparat

Here is a lemon grove in Ojai.  Weather here was definitely Chamber of Commerce weather (near 80F).

Passed by Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia.  Too far away to hear the screams on the rides, tho!   rollinglaugh

After passing Gorman on the way home, it got really cold.  But I had to stop and capture this sunset before heading home and a long HOT shower!

Nice Job - good report.  I like your sunset picture with the sunburst rays in it.

I wish we had mountains in south Louisiana - heck, I'd settle for a few hills.

I'd settle for a temperature that didn't create inches of white crap on the roads.

I've been to that Six Flags before, maybe 10 years ago. Glad to see you don't waste the weather you're blessed with.

Nice ride!
I've heard of the Rock Inn, but never been. What is it like? Worth the trip?
Not surprised you were cold through the Grapevine, it can be cold there in the summer.  happy1
Were getting some great January weather though, aren't we?  thumb

Well it's pretty rustic but I did attend a wedding reception there once.  The granddaughter and I stopped there for pie and coffee once.  Most of the crowd are older, cruiser riders.   gerg

I guess the surrounding hills and mountains are some sort of compensation for living in a really bleak environment (desert).  Wish you had some hills too!

I always want to not like California, but I know I'm jealous.  Nice Ride Report.
