My 1985 Nighthawks S...
« on: May 28, 2014, 12:28:03 PM »
I am almost 50 and have been riding motorcycles since I was 9.
Was looking for a mid 70's CB750 to play around with when I ran across this beauty down by St Louis. Bought her on the spot without even a test ride. Owner had her for 11 years prior and was a maintenance freak to say the least! She has 32,000 on the clock but looks like just 10K at the most. All stock except for the seat. Been awhile since I have ridden anything with a proper riding position and will take a corner at speed.

What is the actual diiference? I thought 84 and 85 were pretty much the same with 86 having more components blacked out

The reds are differant I think and the 85 blue and red have a white line around the red, like mine.  You need add some engine brighting stuff and that baby will shine.

I ordered some last week, that's really the only thing on the whole bike that looks "dull" is the black on the motor.

WD40 shines that right up.  Spray on a rag then wipe on.  Help keep the bugs from sticking too.

WD40 works pretty well, also helps keep bugs from sticking.  Spray on a rag and wipe on.

Very nice! I'm also liking the old Chevy in the background... '56? or is it a '55? You've got quite the garage started!

Looks nice.

The tank is 1984 colors based on, what looks to me, the black pinstripe,

The '84 speedo gauge has even numbers, while the '85 and '86 have odd numbers.

It belonged to the guy I bought the bike from, do believe it was a 56

I asked the original owner about the paint and emblems. He said the black was faded and when they went to repaint everything they could only find the 1984 style stickers for the bike so that's what he bought.

Looks like someone used an Accel Super Stock wire kit and just made them to fit
