I am accustomed to having to search out large gear for my husband but now I am one the other side of the spectrum. Small men's gear is much worse!
Trying to find a textile jacket for my step-son. He has, maybe, a 35" chest and 30" waist. Ordered a small Scorpion jacket (their sizes seemed about the closest) but it is still too big.
He has an Xelement mesh jacket, not the greatest but it works OK, just not warm enough and he will be on a bike much more often now.
Do I have to get a woman's jacket to have something small enough?

Check out RS Taichi they are a Jap brand with much smaller sizing, and their gear is FANTASTIC. I recently purchased a textile jacket from them called "Armed High Protection."

http://www.rs-taichi.com/main/product/11ss.html

There is a store in Chula Vista, CA.

Here is a reputable online dealer that carries the brand. http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Categories.bok?category=RS+Taichi+Apparel%3ATextile+Jackets

For reference I am a size 40 and had to order a XXL and it is very fitted, but comfortable.

Where don't small guys find gear, every single gear site I go on always has so much stuff in small and extra small that they don't know what to do with them, look in the clearance sections on sites, nothing but S and XS for dirt cheap, I bet you could put together a $1000 getup for $100 just off clearance stuff.

Here's one that might be an option.

I think your just going to have to be diligent about watching various sites for the XS sizes. I know I've seen 30" waist sizes on closeout at motorcyclegear.com as well.

That's because the online places sell what the brick stores absolutely refuse to put on their racks.
Online: Me sizes
Brick and Mortar: Yeti

It took me almost a year before I figured out I could buy gear online that actually fit..a week later I was ATGATT. I'm what use to be normal size before 9 year olds started wearing size 15 shoes. Large is just way too big. I will simply fall out of the 4XL jackets at the motorcycle shops.

im a 35 chest and 30 waist. street gear for pants i dont know cause i wear dirt gear on my lower half. and i found the scorpion jacket i have, dont remember what model, in medium to be a bit loose at the waist. and i just picked up the joe rocket cbr jacket and it seems to fit fine a hair short in the sleeves for my taste, but i dont wear gauntlet style glove, and it seems to fit me fine. and the cbr jacket is a size small. and wear the waist straps a bit loose, rather than huggin my body, so it doesnt ride up when i bend over. and that seems to be the best jacket ive found to fit me. so maybe thats something you can look into?

Ahhhh Japanese brands is a good idea. I have a Japanese friend that has his family send all his jeans from Japan cause American stuff is all huge on him.
What some makers consider small isn't even close to his size. Tourmaster says their small is a 42!

I appreciate everyone's suggestions and am looking into them. As Bee said stuff this small isn't in stores and paying return shipping on a bunch of stuff that doesn't fit gets pricey real fast!

I use www.motorcyclesuperstore.com for just about all of the gear I buy. They have excelent customer service and usually have fast shipping. They have all kinds of sizes too.

Just to follow-up in case anyone else ever needs small men's gear. After having no success with the better known makers I went back Leather-up and ordered a small Xelement jacket. A good fit and a smaller size "small" than any other brand I've tried. It also appears to have good venting and CE rated armor that sits in the right places.

Right now Jafrum has mesh pants in S and XS for only $24.95 on clearance. These are the same pants hppants crashed in without injury so I comfortable that they will be a decent option and certainly better than the jeans the boy wears now.

I know you found what you need Burgi but I thought I would throw out one more brand.  I have a 32 inch waist and found that FirstGear makes some good fitting jackets for me without being loose.  A few Technic jackets are okay too but not as consistent.

Cmyers thanks for the Tachi link, some interesting stuff there.

I'd love to get a closer look at them but there are no dealers in my area.

Also try Fieldsheer or Hein Gericke. I'm 5' 5" and their jackets fit me pretty well.
