Got this bike from a couple of retired Filipino guys in Long Beach, CA. They had done a bunch of painting themselves, and made their own turnsignals apparently from Autozone Truck sidelights... PFFFT. Ugly.

I started to get the customization bug...

Battery Casing move (to be moved again)

I wanted a different sound on my Pipes so i cut out the first baffle and rewelded

I fell in the snow and broke one of those Halo Projector Lights and when down to one - and threw on some bicycle handlebars to check out what it would look like

Bought Drag Bars and a Two Inch riser since my hydraulics hit the fork

And here is the state of the current bars

I have a few things i want to do next --- fork change, i want a wider stance, large round headlight, corbin seat, and incorporated tail light with turn signals.

I'm generally a fan of stock, but that's beyond the point. You've done some interesting things,

What kind of projector are you running? Hi/Lo or just a low beam?

I've always wanted to see a Nighthawk with the entire engine painted and just the head fins polished. Looks pretty good.

I think the short exhaust could look pretty cool on any 700S if you cleaned up the welds and had it painted afterwards.

The black is way better than the yellow. The rest seems kind of mad max like. Looking forward to seeing what else you do.

By the way, If you not using the right side cover it is highly sought after and can bring in a good buck if it is in good shape, even if it needs to be repainted.

I LOVE the DIY Shorty's - I'm used to dirtbiking and love always having 2 fingers on the levers and being able to squeeze all the way down without pinching your outter two fingers.

Haven't decided on cleaning up the welds yet - I mean jeeze, at this point, maybe a fire cannon is appropriate?

The Projector light has a normal high beam, and the low beam is a HALO angel light.

Thanks for the feedback - will update when i make changes!

OMG....  That paintjob was awesome.
I would have had the front fairing painted in the same colors.

My 2 cents: you completely dishonored your bike by axing it to bits....

But you're free to do whatever you like...

Hey Richtotheie,

You should post a video of what the bike sounds like now that you cut the first baffle out and shortened the exhaust. I'm very curious. It looks good though like they said would look better if you cleaned up the welds and painted over. Keep up the good work.

Hey Richie,

How are those pod filters working for you? Bike running rough? A lot of time spent rejetting? All I have ever heard is that it is not worth the time and headaches to put pods on the CV carbs we have on our bikes. I love the idea of getting rid of that air box, if i could I would install one of those new Lithium Iron batteries that weigh about 1lbs, are zero maintenance and tiny. That way it would be easier to hide. Interesting article on them:

I have pods on my bike and she runs good with a proper jet kit. I let my carbs soak in pine sol after dissembling them. I put in bigger jets and added two washers and drilled a hole out of the vacuum diaphragm. Really not a lot of time spent doing this just a overnight project. Only problem I have is slow lower rpms and a stumble from cruise to straight WOT. But that I believe is just a couple adjustments not right. I'm glad I followed my gut and did the pods instead of listening to others cause I'm not having any issues described by others. If you would like to know everything I did and see pics click on my profile and my topics it's under the carb rebuild, soak in pine sol topic.

That is one of the issues described by others.

Oh didnt realize that, i read a couple different. But that can be fixed by richening my mixture. So why it's so downed I don't know. It doesn't take much. By the way does anyone know where I can get a pilot screw wrench that's less then 143 bucks?
