After riding in the sweltering heat today, I have decided I have got to do something different than the current full face I wear. The modular looks very much like something I want, but can you ride with it when the bottom is in the up position. Otherwise I am going to have to get a 3/4 or half helmet for the valley summers. It seems as I age my tolerance to heat is not as good as it used to be. Any one who rides with the modular please feel free to chime in, thanks.
Faceplant + no chin bar = bad. Have you considered a dirt bike helmet? The one's I've tried on over the years have been drafty breezy compared to standard full face helmets.

I love my AFX FX100 full face. I have little experience with other brands other than the old HJC's but, I am definately sold on AFX now. The ventilation is great, its very comfortable and the integrated sun visor is awesome. I also love the quick release strap over the old D rings. I can buckle and unbuckle without having to take off my gloves.

I opped for the Shoei RF-1100 in Pearl Gray. Great fitting helmet with good ventelation. The only draw back I see is the D ring chin strap and the ridges in the padding on the inside...give me a funky dew after just 5 minutes of ridding.

I just switched from an HJC CL-15 to a CL-SP. I am not a huge fan of the graphics, but I dig the lid. Quieter than the 15, and it seems to have decent air flow so far.

I wouldn't. It would feel like wearing a parachute on your head. Concave surface into the wind = ow.

Concave surface into the wind = ow. It's the concave surface with your face sticking out front against the pavement that bothers me. Based on first hand experience, it's best to be INSIDE the helmet, when the 4-grit belt sander starts grinding on things.

I'd imagine the front of it up in an unsecured position could probably make some creative shrapnel too.

Yeah who cares if you lose half your face in a wreck? I'm sure all the paramedics will tell everyone how awesome your helmet looked with your bike...Not trying to be an @$$ but I spent too long working in an ER seeing the aftermath of people who weren't ATGATT. As long as feeling the wind in you hair is worth eating your food through a straw, have at it.

You have that backwards. Bobbers don't make full face helmets look good.

I have this one by HJC Best helmet I've ever put my head in! I wear glasses and the inside smoked lens is perfect, slides right over my glasses. Can't see me EVER purchasing another helmet without the built in sunglasses! I like the design on yours, I got this one myself: Love the little sun visor as well, but I do think the helmet is a little noisy. Otherwise it's perfect I think. Good fit yet comfortable, light, good ventilation and my glasses slide in very easy.

The only draw back I see is the D ring chin strap and the ridges in the padding on the inside...give me a funky dew after just 5 minutes of ridding. I gave in and just shaved my head to prevent helmet hair. I'm rocking the Scorpion EXO-900 now. My only complaint is that the visor does not stay open at 30+ with the way I have my windscreen set. Not really a bad issue since I should be keeping it closed anyhow. I don't care about the "transformer" aspect of the helmet, being able to convert it from a modular to a 3/4 lid. I have it because it is one of the few modulars that comes in 3XL.

I ride with a modular helmet and love being able to flip up the chin guard when stopped or having a conversation (particularly at the entrance to my military base to show ID). I went with the "Hawk" brand and REGRET it evryday. Full of functionality (like internal flip sun visor), but built CHEAP and lot's of noise. I'll be replacing it soon with a higher end modular or full face. Chromy

Scorpion EXO-700. I like the easily removable and washable padding. I actually have two sets of the padding, so i can pop out the dirty set, and pop in the clean ones. I rotate them every week or so if I'm riding regularly. I'm not overly crazy about the graphics, but it's a good quality helmet that I got a good deal on, and it's both DOT and Snell rated.

I've got a full face KBC helmet as well as a modular Gmax helmet. Personally I like the modular helmet better. It's much easier getting my glasses on and off.

Using this HJC CL-SP Throttle for now. Wind noise isn't too bad, ventilation is good but wearing glasses has me looking for one with built in sun shade.

I have an Arai RX-Q that I just got to replace the heavy lid (anyone heard of "Hawk" helmet) that the PO threw in with the deal...didn't notice that the old helmet's visor was concealing some foam dry rot, so not so good in sealing... I have to admit the RX-Q is very nice and quiet. I am still learning the venting system...but the airflow seemed good and it feels a lot lighter.

I've got that one in red. I have a Caberg with a built in sun shield. I got it when I was riding to school in daylight and coming home after dark so I wouldn't have to carry 2 shields. I can't say I like it much. I use it for a purpose but it is never my go to helmet for normal rides. I considered bring it to MI and leaving it so I wouldn't have to haul a helmet back and forth but I know as soon as I did I would have need of it here.
