New here, thought I'd post a pic & introduce myself.  Been riding on & off for a couple of years, thanks to the BF who is an avid rider.  This is my second bike (first was a baby interceptor).  Couldn't find a bike I liked, so I posted a "wanted" ad on CL.  Got this bike from a guy who responded, he'd dumped it at low speed, his pregnant wife freaked out & insisted he sell it.  My score!  I only paid $1,300 for it (I think it was a good buy), only real problem is a dent in the tank & a bit of scraping around some bits.  Sure do like this bike, tho :)

It often escapes me that none of our bikes are even close to new.  I mean this is an 18 year old bike, and it certainly doesn't look it.
My bike looks pretty crummy, but people scoff when I admit it's from 1985.
If the dent is on the side shown, it's not worth worrying about.

Yep, the dent is right on the Honda Wing on the tank.  If you look, you can see it.  But it's almost good that it's on the wing - most people standing next to it don't even take notice of it. :)

wave welcome tryvelcro, just keep it from rusting there at the dent and I wouldn't worry about, besides its on the right side that you don't as often as the left. giggle

From the picture, hardly notice the dent. Any plans to try and replace the tank? You said it's your second bike, so do you think you're still learning? Gonna wait to put any money into it?

Even so, you got a great deal!

Good looking bike....knowing what you got it for, I'd fix the dent. Most Nighthawks seem to have held up well against "age". I guess they're just built tough.....

I'll probably get the tank fixed, but I'm one of those sick people that doesn't mind his bumps & bruises.  They're character!

I posted in one of the other forums, I'm thinking about doing the suspension & new tires. beyond that, everything will wait for now.
