Hi Guys!!

Purchased my Nighthawk new in 1984 right off the showroom floor in Columbus, Ga for $1,579.00. By October of that year I took the top photo and twenty four years later I took the bottom photo!

Also I just purchased these optional saddlebags, luggage rack, sissy bar and engine guard from a parts bike. Note the decal on the saddle bag. That is the chrome and black stripe from an 83 Nighthawk and the decal is special size for the bags.

mol original owner.  One guy on here is original owner of a CB700SC, so he's within a year or two of you -but he had a re-paint.
These saddlebags are Honda parts, or aftermarket?  Look great either way.  It sure wears the touring gear well for a smaller bike.

 welcome

Seriously, that's some good dedication. I would love to hear some of your stories about 25 years with a 450sc.

I have about 16,000 miles on it. I drove it through out high school, working at Winn Dixie making $80 a month payments. After high school I got a civil service job and rode it for a while till I purchased a car. About 1990 is when it pretty much saw storage. It has a few bumps and bruises. One time a lady ran a redlight turn and I hit her back bumper. Kept it upright, looked back and she was gone. My right foot peg hit her bumper...knocked off my shoe and bent the foot peg. No other damage!

Another one...a van came into my lane and I put a nice dent down the side of it with my clutch lever knocking off the little ball looking end. I hit the curb and layed it over in the grass only scuffing the front fender very little. No other damage

I drove it in college a little in 1992 then it was back to storage after I completely removed every bolt nut and screw for a good cleaning.....I have pictures!

Two years ago I brought it home from my grandmothers garage and the rest is history!

Sweet. One thing on my mind about these 450sc's is longer distance capability. No really long tours or anything, but day or weekend trips. Ever done anything like that on the 450? Currently I'm thinking it makes a better commuter bike.

Wow, sounds like that bike is blessed, either that or you are. Glad to see you've got it back on the road again.

I drove it to Atlanta and back home once. That was a 200 mile round trip in 42 degree rain over the weekend!

As far as a road bike...I'd stick to a 750 or larger. I did always want the Blue/Chrome 750 Nighthawk!!

Man these things seem to go through tachs. Hope you can figure out how to repair yours before it goes. I have spent since Jan when I bought my bike trying to find an OEM tach, just found one last week. Could only get it with the full dash, seller wouldn't part it out, ran me a little too much, but I'll have a tach back soon. Good luck.

BTW, check the weld on the tach cable attachment screw in...that housing is supposed to be welded to the tach housing, mine was not. Being loose, the magnet on the inside of that attachment screw got stuck to the inner part of the housing and would not allow the cable to spin. Wreaked havoc on the insides and broke the cable. (I apologize for the terminology, I am probably off on what I am calling some of the parts...don't have a good shop manual right now.)

I thought I posted this already but I added a few accessories a while back. They need cleaning and repainting. I am trying to locate replacement decals for the saddle bags too. I added a crash bar, luggage rack, sissy bar and saddle bags. I sure would like to have a Windjammer too!

Any decal/sign place should be able to make the decals fairly easily and they can be cheaper than online places sometines. Most places can do the multi-layer with the chrome stuff as well. I'd check to see if any near you could whip something up.

My dad was the other way.. I had an old SR500, and when he saw the Nighthawk he told me it was a good deal and I should get it. I wasn't going to complain. I love these old 750's.

Beauty!!  welcome

Are those original tires on her? Look great... And, old tires, I hear, can be deceiving as to their viability. Take it easy.
