I bought this bike for $1,650. It's a 1991 Nighthawk.

She's got 30,000 miles on the odo, but you wouldn't know it by looking at her. There are no dents, scratches, or dings anywhere. The previous owner took really good care of it.

Accessories on the bike include a low profile windshield, smaller turn signals, and a fiberglass piece on the bottom.

It seems like I am missing out on something, seeing bikers having so much fun riding.
You are correct!   poke

So you've got the bike in your possession, and are letting it sit until trained?  That's admirable and smart and I thank God I was never called upon to show such restraint.

Not to jinx you, but I really hope this isn't dropped in the first few hours of riding, as that happens a lot (I didn't make it around the block once) and this bike is too pretty for that.

Good luck!

Welcome. Sharp bike you got and a good deal it sounds like.

I'm always curious how people find us, if you don't mind.

I was hoping that was the previous owner's lid, and had been replaced by something with a chinbar.

Welcome! to riding and to the forum  smiler I decided to start riding at age 31 myself. *im 33 now* Probably a good decision, a 16 year old wouldnt have waited for the training course or a helmet lol. If you know anyone who rides that can come by and teach you call em. If not, look on youtube, there are lessons on video there. Not the greatest but better than nothing. Also there are written tutorials on different websites.  I learned how to ride from youtube and a few text websites lol. I would suggest being able to ride around the block and being familliar with the bike and controlls before spending the money on the riders training course, but thats just me lol. Anyhow welcome, awesome looking bike man! I love the lower plastics under the headers, I wanna get one for my bike lol.

I trained on a long dirt driveway, my father in law used to ride so I had someone to keep me in check, took it out for a few small trips with him following me (and once the day after I got it alone, all of half a mile, I couldnt resist!) fast forward a year, took the msf course last  may, got the license, then this year finally got the bike road legal, it was a slow process but the best way to stay out of trouble.

there is absolutely no problem with going straight to msf class, they assume you know nothing, and several in my class didnt
